Very valid point about the Rochester and Buffalo markets. I think when most investors talk about investing in New York, most think of New York City and the astronomical home prices in much of that area (which is definitely a big turn off if you are just getting started in investing). Most don't understand that you can still purchase quality rental units elsewhere in the state of New York for a great price. 


I invest in northern New York and have had much success in the area. Not just because of lower home prices with great rental rates, but because there is not anywhere near the competition!
